Marketing can be in the form of PPC (pay per click) advertising. PPC adverts are those adverts that show up in the right hand side of any search that you perform on the internet. You create a advert with some keywords(words that trigger your add) and you pay google or yahoo every time someone clicks on them.
The second form of marketing is article marketing. You write and create articles similar to the one that brought you here. these articles point people to your page where you will sell them something.
